About

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a position I have held since 2022. My academic journey features a diverse educational background, beginning with a B.Sc. in Microbiology and an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Bharathiyar University, India. I further advanced my studies with an M.Sc. in Immunology from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and earned a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Toronto, Canada. Prior to my current role, I served as an Instructor in the Department of Dermatology at Johns Hopkins University and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the same department.

My research focuses on immunodermatology, utilizing both mouse models and human biospecimens. My primary areas of investigation include skin infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus and other bacteria, such as Streptococcus pyogenes and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. I employ a translational research approach encompassing inflammasome-mediated and adaptive immune responses, utilizing various immunological techniques along with RNA sequencing, metabolomics, and proteomics in my projects.

A significant aspect of my work involves developing biomarkers and therapeutic targets for treating skin-related immunological diseases. My research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and contributed to at least one US patent related to caspase inhibition for treating bacterial or viral infections.
